Ix Desk is a lightweight, AnyDesk-style remote desktop app. Share your screen, let someone view or control it — encrypted end to end, identified by a simple 9-digit desk ID, on your LAN or across the internet through your own relay.
Every session runs over TLS with certificate fingerprint pinning — the first connection shows a fingerprint, and you pin it once.
Each machine keeps a stable ID. Connect by ID or IP — no account, no cloud dependency, no tracking.
Desks on your network appear automatically. For different networks, point both sides at your own relay server and IDs work anywhere.
Copy on one machine, paste on the other. Text, both directions, with a size limit you control.
Send files either way during a session. Received files land in
Downloads\IxDesk.
Pick which screen to share and switch live — the viewer sees exactly what you choose.
The host approves every connection: allow full control, view only, or deny. Passwords are hashed on the wire.
Trade bandwidth for sharpness in real time from either side, plus a latency readout in the session window.
No install on the controlling side. Open the web viewer, type the 9-digit desk ID, approve on the host — and you're watching (or controlling) the screen in seconds.
Desktop, laptop or tablet with a modern browser. The session travels through this site's relay, so no port forwarding is needed on either side.
The browser negotiates its own encrypted channel directly with the host (ECDH + AES-256-GCM, authenticated by the desk password). The relay only forwards opaque bytes — it never sees the screen or keystrokes.
Mouse, keyboard, scroll, clipboard, monitor switching, quality/FPS and file transfer — the same features as the desktop viewer.
On the same LAN as the host? Open the address shown in the Ix Desk host log
(http://YOUR-PC-IP:45680) for a direct, relay-free session.
It's a single portable .exe — no installer, no admin needed to run.
Set a password, click Enable remote control. Your 9-digit ID appears — the desk shows Available for connections.
Double-click the discovered desk or type its ID / IP:45678.
The host approves, and you're in.

Internet connections use the relay running on this server — nothing to install. Just point both desks at it in Settings:
# Settings → Relay Relay host: remote.ixsystems.in Relay port: 45690
Prefer your own server? The relay is a single Python file — run it anywhere:
# On your VPS — open TCP 45690 first python3 relay_server.py --port 45690
In your VPS firewall / security group (ufw allow 45690/tcp).
In the app: Settings → Relay host = remote.ixsystems.in (or your server), Relay port = 45690.
Works from any network, both desks must use the same relay.
Yes. Ix Desk is open source and self-hosted — there are no accounts, seats or usage limits. The relay is your own server.
No. Both machines connect out to the relay, so nothing is exposed on either side. On a single LAN it works with no configuration at all.
Sessions are TLS-encrypted with pinned fingerprints, access requires the host's password plus an on-screen approval, and you can allow view-only access.
Yes. Open the web viewer, enter the desk's 9-digit ID and password, and approve on the host. Browser sessions are end-to-end encrypted — the relay cannot read them.
The ID is generated once and stored with your config in
%APPDATA%\IxDesk — it survives updates.
